Marjorie Callaway Barber
SAVANNAH – Marjorie Callaway Barber died September 8, 2016 following a short illness surrounded by family.
Born in Tattnall County, she grew up in Hinesville, GA and graduated from Bradwell Institute. After attending Georgia Southern College in Statesboro, GA, she married her loving husband of 62 years, John G.“Jack” Barber, of Hinesville, GA.
She worked for the Hinesville Bank, and later for Savannah Bank & Trust. For 46 years, she was a resident of Wilmington Park and a member of the First Baptist Church of the Islands.
Surviving are her daughter Dale Jones (Bobby) of Savannah, son Jack Barber Jr. (Dawn) of Lexington, SC; 4 granddaughters: Kimberly Norton Anderson (Chris) of Savannah, Brittany Barber Frick (Jarrod), Anne-Marie Barber Micol (Larry) and Leah Marjorie Barber, all of Lexington, SC; and two great-grandchildren, Emeline and Gray Anderson.
The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm on Monday, September 12, 2016 at First Baptist Church of the Islands with a visitation/reception following at the church. The church is located at 6613 Johnny Mercer Blvd, (Wilmington Island) Savannah, GA 31410, phone 912-897-2142.
Remembrances may be made to First Baptist Church of the Islands, Beyond Measure Building Fund.

Dear Dale and Jack jr. Our hearts go out for the loss of your Mom. She was a wonderful lady that always made her friends feel very special. From the first time we met her, she made us feel Like old friends. Both her and Jack were always fondly thought of. They were the kind of folks that have made the world a better place. We are so sorry for your loss. Rest assured that those of us that were privileged to know your Mom and Dad, are better people having had that privilege.
